Gear: #53 Making a Strop

A sharp knife is a useful tool. There a quite a few ways to get it sharp. However, once it is sharp a strop add that extra fineness to the blade.  I figured it was time to get one. They are quite easy to make and use.

Gear: #52 Cheap Framesheet

The LA Police Gear 3 day pack is a bit floppy in the back. With only a sheet of foam to give it any form.  I made a cheap frame sheet to stiffen it up and make it carry better.

Took a foggy jaunt on the Superior Hiking Trail in Duluth Minnesota. Section was from Magney-Snively trailhead to Ely Peak and back. Bit wet and muddy but awesome none the less.

Gear: #50 Making a Brian Green Esbit Tray

Esbit is a nice lightweight fuel that works well to boil up your water for your pre-made or freezer bag meals.  This stove is very easy to make out of just about any metal you can get your hands on, including a soda can.  This was designed by Brian Green and you can check out his blog post on this stove below.

Adventure: #65 A Day Hike at Broemmelsiek Park

Perfect day for a last hike of 2016, I headed over to Broemmelsiek Park and hit some of the trails I have never hiked. Lots of prairie to see. It was excellent.

Gear: #48 Bottle Bag Modifications

Bottle bags are a great way to contain essential kit into one container. But it is difficult to get the lid for my cup out of the bottom not to mention the lid of the bag has wasted space. No more!! Time to mod.
